kings-norton-under11sKings Norton Under 11's have collected over 100 pairs of boots for B4A.

Kings Norton under 11’s District football team has collected over 100 pairs of football boots and still counting in aid of the “Boots For Africa” appeal. Boots For Africa, founded by Sheffield FC – The World’s First Football Club - collect old football boots and deliver them to the children and adults of Africa. The ‘Boots For Africa’ appeal aims to help develop the skills and fitness of disadvantaged children, and provide more children with the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful game donated boots will be the first ever pair worn by disadvantaged children and will offer a generation of young people affected by poverty, poor health and lack of opportunity a new sense of hope, pride and ambition for themselves and for their country.

The charity collection has been driven by Kings Norton’s Defensive Midfielder OJ Hough (Back row far right in the picture below) and Gavin Ottley the teams Manager. Post Christmas the boys started collecting boots after finding lots of old boots in their wardrobes and cupboards at home. OJ himself found 17 pairs of boots and searched the internet for a method of recycling his old boots. He then contacted Sheffield FC’s Chairman Richard Tims who is the founder of the “Boots For Africa” charity who sent a donation pack to the team to start their collection. Boots have been kindly donated by Schools, individuals, football coaches and teams around the area and from as far as Manchester and the collection continues to grow daily as donations of old boots come in. The team are looking to present the first phase of their “Boots For Africa “donation in the next two weeks where they are hoping the collection of old boots will have grown to at least 130+ pairs.

The Kings Norton District team is made up of boys from 11 different primary schools in the Kings Norton district which includes Rubery and Northfield. This season’s Kings Norton U11’s district team is the most successful in 22 years and has won 10 games and drawn 1 whilst playing other talented young footballers from all around the midlands. They are now on track to reach the district final in April which will be played at Aston Villa’s training ground at Body Moor heath.

“…the pleasure has been mine in working closely with you. Along this journey we have learnt a lot and hopefully we shall produce stars that would one day play Sheffield and other clubs in the UK. “
